HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the language used to define a web page's content and structure.
XHTML is very similar to HTML, but conforms to more standards.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is the language used to describe the look and feel of a web page, including the font, colour and positing of items. JavaScript is a scripting language that can provide interactive features on a website within the browser (i.e. without the need to reload the page).
